Dan James rides Don Magnum in Freestyle win

The 2018 All American Quarter Horse Congress Freestyle has a new Champion.

Dan James, of Midway, Ky. took home the highest honors with a score of 232 Saturday night during the special event held in front of a sold out crowd in the Coliseum.

James rode Don Magnum into the top spot with a John Wayne performance that left the audience stunned and his horse without a bridle toward the end.

Rounding out the top three were second place Keith A. Ceddia of Centerburg, Ohio on Red Gun 2 owned by Karen Shedlauskas and Luke Gingerich of Plain City, Ohio on CJ Rio Zan Bar Gun.
