NYATT Reaches New Heights

The world’s largest National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT), sponsored by National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) Smart Points and hosted by the All American Quarter Horse Congress, is a significant event for youth involved in the Quarter Horse industry. Bringing together 296 youth from across North America and representing 43 different state and regional Quarter Horse associations, the 2023 NYATT culminated Sunday, October 15.

Teams consist of 1-16 members and must be sponsored by a regional or state Quarter Horse Association. Teams can have no more than 2 members compete in each of eight classes: Barrel Racing, Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle, Ranch Riding, Reining, Showmanship, and Western Pleasure.

Medallions are awarded to the top 15 individuals in each class, with class winners receiving the Don Bell Congress bronze trophy. Overall team awards are divided into two divisions based on the size of the sponsoring associations.

The winning Division I team was from the Georgia Quarter Horse Association, lead by advisor Cydney Benes.

Contributions from Georgia Quarter Horse Association members:

  • Natalie Anderson: 3rd place in Hunter Under Saddle and 3rd place in Western Pleasure
  • Madison Rafacz: 5th place in Ranch Riding and 2nd place in Reining
  • Aidan Rizk: 8th place in Showmanship
  • Ellie Royal: 4th place in Showmanship
  • Lauren Sanders: 9th place in Horsemanship
  • Additional team members include: Baylie Robbins and Lena Sater

The winning Division II team was Florida Quarter Horse Association, lead by advisor Julie Usoff.

Contributions from Florida Quarter Horse Association members:

  • Trent Ferrier: 4th place in Ranch Riding
  • Rebecca C. McCain: 11th place in Showmanship
  • Maranda Rickman: 8th place in Ranch Riding
  • Sadie Rose Ross: 7th place in Hunter Under Saddle
  • Additional team members include: Layla Delvecchio
