Ohio-based North Farm and Masterson Farms, LLC - Setting the Standard of Excellence

Earlier this week, Masterson Farms, LLC announced the purchase of The Lopin Machine (Clyde) and his subsequent move to their facility in Somerville, Tennessee. For the past two years, Ohio natives, Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis of North Farm stood the Congress Masters Champion stallion at their facility in North Lawrence, Ohio. The stallion was sired by A Good Machine and is out of Hot Lopin Louise, a three-time Congress Champion and an NSBA Horse of the Year.

“Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis could not have been more professional or helpful throughout the entire process of this transition,” says Ken Masterson, who is primarily known for standing the legendary RL Best Of Sudden. “Given the rapidly approaching breeding season, it would have been nearly impossible to successfully relocate The Lopin Machine without their support.”

Masterson continues, “To their great credit, their concern for the stallion and their customers outweighs any other matter. It’s remarkable that all the information and data needed for Clyde and his customers for this breeding season is now in place with us. It’s a great credit to Debbi’s organizational skills. As well, Kristy Starnes was instrumental in this process and her efficiencies were very much appreciated.”

Trubee echoes Masterson’s sentiment about the seamless transition.

“He has been just wonderful,” Trubee states. “We know Clyde has gone to the best place and look forward to seeing his success in the years to come.”

Masterson has also been a huge supporter of OQHA and the Congress throughout the years being VIP campers, Arena Team Sponsors, and advertising in the Congress’ print publications. “The Congress occupies a huge spot on any Quarter Horse calendar,” Masterson states. “Participating is indispensable whether you’re a breeder, trainer, owner, or exhibitor.  We always know we can reach our audience by being there and advertising our horses and stallions.  I doubt there is any other location where more of our industry is present.”

While Debbi Trubee and Roger Landis of North Farm located in North Lawrence, Ohio have been involved in the Quarter Horse business in the Buckeye State for over forty years. Their expertise in the horse industry has culminated in them becoming one of the top breeding farms in the industry.

Their involvement with legendary sires like Invitation Only and Lazy Loper have cemented their invaluable contributions to the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and the Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA). Currently, this power couple is standing Winnies Willy, The Best Martini, Makin Me Willy Wild and I Am The Party.

“Ohio has always been one of the most competitive states for competition in the Quarter Horse World,” says Trubee, who has been on the Congress Super Sale Committee with Landis for several years. “It made me have to get better at my job when I was a horse trainer. Now that we raise the next generation of show stock, the fact that our competition was so keen has given me a better eye for the difference between good and great. It has made us more selective in what we raise and strive for the great ones.”
